About the Role

DyslexAbility, is a learning and intervention Centre located in the southeast of Melbourne. We specialise in working with students who have dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, autism, literacy, and maths challenges. Our staff are highly trained practitioners providing one-on-one hourly sessions using explicit, systematic, and synthetic phonics programs through a multi-sensory approach.

As our Centre continues to grow exponentially, we are seeking the right candidates to join our friendly, passionate, team of specialist practitioners. We are looking for professional, motivated, organised, energetic, and positive education and neurodiversity enthusiasts who are excited about helping kids who learn differently. Teaching degrees are not required but successful candidates must hold certifications in MSL or OG and/or be willing to be trained and certified through DyslexAbility prior to working with students.

Candidates must possess the following abilities:
• A passion for working with neurodiverse students and a love of continued learning
• Knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity
• A high level of patience, understanding, and empathy
• Ability to communicate and interact with students in a warm, professional, and effective manner
• Strong self-management skills and ability to handle autonomy with confidence
• Ability to be flexible
• Be self-reliant with technology, operating laptops, iPads, and associated programs and applications
• Be a team player
• Have a sense of humour
• An excitement and ability to think outside the box and a willingness to share their passion for learning and education

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare, deliver, and conduct one-on-one sessions using the designated methodologies needed for each individual student
• Communicate and interact with students, colleagues, and managers in a professional, positive manner
• Plan and implement lessons based on diagnostic assessment materials
• Record and report student progress
• Analyse student’s strengths and weaknesses to enhance skills utilising appropriate techniques and strategies.
