TESTIMONIALS
Hear from those who know us best.
At DyslexAbility, our greatest success comes from the progress and confidence we see in the children we support. From improving reading, writing, and numeracy skills to building self-esteem, life skills, and independence, our students’ journeys inspire us every day. These are the voices of the extended DyslexAbility family—sharing their journeys, growth, and gratitude.

Jackson's success story.
With Jackson completing his last session at DyslexAbility, we reflected on his incredible journey. He started when he was just 8 years old and last week completed Book 10! Jackson developed a trusted and wonderful learning environment with Sue and Tom.
Sessions became more than structured learning—they helped him build decoding skills and other strategies for everyday challenges. Now, with go-to coping mechanisms in place, Jackson is thriving in his job at Bunnings and preparing for his VCE journey. Thank you, Sue and Tom, for being the special people you are and for creating the amazing DyslexAbility resource.

All of the staff are amazing and the owners are the most kind-hearted and absolutely wonderful people I have ever met. "DyslexAbility changed my daughter's life. Her practitioner took the time to understand her brain and gave her the confidence to finally raise her hand in class. Today, she's about to finish Year 11, is completing a Certificate II at TAFE - and her best subject is English. Without DyslexAbility, her story would be very different."
- Deb, Parent
"I am so thankful for the work that the practitioners at DyslexAbility do. My son was about 18 months behind with his maths and literacy when we started coming here two years ago. - Patrick, Year 11
"DyslexAbility has truly been a life-changing place for our family. Our son began attending DyslexAbility at just 5 years old after being identified with severe expressive and receptive language difficulties. When he first started, he was timid, shy, reserved, unassertive, and withdrawn, with very limited social interaction and communication. From day one, however, he was so warmly welcomed into the DyslexAbility family, and that genuine care made all the difference."
- Hirusha, Parent
“The work Sue has done with Michael over the years has made an incredible difference. Michael now has a better understanding of this difficulty he has to read and spell and because of this, he has learnt to work with it and not make excuses for it. Thanks to Sue’s teachings, time, and commitment to helping Michael be the best he can possibly be, he has become a confident and capable student now in Year 9!”
- Cath, Parent
“My eldest son immediately felt at home and had a special place to go away from all the stresses of school and day-to-day life. His confidence grew immensely from the instant he met his amazing DyslexAbility family. He has progressed so much already, he has even taught me a few things! He is self-correcting and enjoying reading and writing for the first time!”
- Amy, Parent
“We get to play fun games and I’ve moved up so many reading levels since last year. I love seeing Sue and everyone else and I love to learn a lot of new things so when I’m at school I already know all this stuff. It feels like a family.”
- Olivia, Year 4
“I love coming because it has helped me so much with school. I used to find things so overwhelming and now I don’t even feel like I have dyslexia! We have so much fun while we learn.”
- Helaina, Year 5
“My Son has improved with his reading immensely over the past few months. He actually wants to read books now. 6 months ago he would never had picked a book up to read just for fun!”

- Emily, Year 3
“I’m dyslexic so it would be very challenging to learn if I didn’t come here. It’s always a blast.”
- Ethan, Year 5
“In the past, my son has not wanted to do ‘extra’ work. Yet, he happily comes each week to spend time with his practitioner. He may arrive in a grumpy mood, but always leaves with a smile on his face. She understands when my son can be encouraged to do his work and when he needs time to just decompress with her about the week that has been. This student-centred approach, rather than weekly outcome approach, has helped keep him engaged with his learning. I can’t thank you enough.”
- Amy, Parent
“Sue’s knowledge of dyslexia and how to help my son with his confidence put my mind at ease and since his first session, my son has come a long way. He is now reading very confidently, even correcting himself at times! More importantly, he understands that he is not alone and that dyslexia doesn’t stop you from achieving great things.”
- Olivia, Parent
“Not only does our son have the battles of dyslexia, but autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, SPD and high anxiety. Sue and Tom have adapted their program around this for him and now have become part of our son’s family. Cuddles and high 5’s going around each session! Without a doubt we wouldn’t be where we are today if we hadn’t started working with DyslexAbility.”
- Sharee, Parent
“It’s been amazing to learn new skills and make me feel more confident with my writing, reading, and spelling. It has made me want to get up and go to school.”
- Aleisha, Year 5
“I get to learn different ways to solve a problem, and different ways to spell that I find helpful!”
- Lily, Year 6
“I like to see all the practitioners and be in my happy place where I know I have someone to rely on!”
- Quinn, Year 6
"My daughter has been attending DyslexAbility for just on 2 years and it has been the best decision I’ve made sending her here. She has built so much confidence in herself with her learning and has surprised everyone with how far she has grown. She is always so happy to go each week to her sessions.”
- Kate, Parent
“My daughter has made steady progress since starting at DyslexAbility and her confidence has grown so much. It really has taken the worry out of everything for me. I know she’s learning and improving and that we’re doing ‘enough’ to help her. That peace of mind is worth everything to me. Thank you all for everything.”
- Kylie, Parent
“With the assistance and guidance from Sue, there has been a huge improvement in his ability to process schoolwork, and his grades have been improving which his teachers have noticed and praised his efforts. He now has a more embracive outlook on dyslexia, and is happy to explain what dyslexia means to others who have no real understanding of the term.”
- Neil, Parent

- Helen, Parent
“A few sessions in, and we noticed extremely big advancements in our son’s reading and spelling skills. This as parents was when we knew we were onto something great. As Sue has a number of intervention programs she is trained in, her mix of offerings puts her in a unique position to meet the needs of each student.”
- N & A, Parents
“When Courtney says ‘Guess what we’re learning today?’ … I just can’t wait because it helps me so much at school. I feel that I accomplish things and you guys are really supportive, helpful, and funny!”
