DyslexAbility, is a therapeutic learning centre located in the southeast of Melbourne. We specialise in working with students who are neurodiverse and have dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD and/or literacy and math challenges. Our staff are highly trained practitioners providing one-on-one hourly sessions using explicit, systematic, and synthetic phonics and programs through a multi-sensory approach.

As our Centre continues to grow exponentially, we are seeking the right candidates to join our friendly team of specialist literacy practitioners. We are looking for professional, motivated, organised, energetic and positive education and neurodiversity enthusiasts who are excited about helping kids who learn differently. Teaching degrees are not required but successful candidates must hold certifications in MSL or OG and/or be willing to be trained and certified through DyslexAbility prior to working with students.

Candidates must possess the following abilities:

  • A passion for working with dyslexic students and a love of continued learning

  • Knowledge and understanding of dyslexia. 

  • A high level of patience, understanding and empathy.

  • Ability to communicate and interact with students in a warm, professional, and effective manner.

  • Strong self-management skills and ability to handle autonomy with confidence.

  • Ability to be flexible.

  • Be self-reliant with technology, operating laptops, iPads and associated programs and applications.

  • Be a team player.

  • Have a sense of humour.

  • An excitement and ability to think outside the box and a willingness to share their passion for learning and education.

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare, deliver, and conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions using the designated methodologies needed for each individual student.

  • Communicate and interact with students, colleagues, and managers in a professional, positive manner.

  • Plan and implement lessons based on diagnostic assessment materials.

  • Record and report student progress.

  • Analyse student’s strengths and weaknesses to enhance skills utilizing appropriate techniques and strategies.
